The Boston Celtics were in the NBA finals only two seasons ago and have consistently made it to at least the conference finals for the past few seasons and have been one of the top teams in their conference each year. They have a solid chance to win it all every year but need to catch up. They have had top-tier starting lineups with an excellent bench squad for years, but I believe this season is the best overall squad they’ve had yet. This is saying a lot considering the caliber of players they’ve had in the past, such as Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum, future hall-of-fame players. In this past offseason, they acquired Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, both incredible players. Kristaps Porzingis is a “unicorn.” he is a 7-foot-tall player with the ability to block shots and shoot 3’s at a fantastic efficiency, not for someone his size but in general. Jrue Holiday was one of the key pieces to an NBA championship-winning squad in the Milwaukee Bucks just two seasons ago, and many of the top offensive players, such as Kevin Durant, have stated that he is one of the best defenders in the league.
Those two additions are the best assets a team could acquire, especially considering they were able to keep their core, such as one of the best duos in the league, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. They became all-stars last season and led their team to a 57-25 record. They did lose some essential pieces in the trade to acquire Porzingis and Holiday; they lost Derrick White and Robert Williams, who were great defensively but not near the same caliber players they received in return. There is some serious competition in the league, especially ones created this past season, such as the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks with the new addition of Damian Lillard. Still, the Celtics have one of the strongest and most experienced starts in the league and have a legitimate, strong chance of finally winning it all this upcoming season.
