Imagine raising a newborn puppy with love and care, watching it grow into a beautiful adult dog, and forming an unbreakable bond between owner and pet. The relationship is characterized by deep affection and mutual dependence. However, you suddenly decide to take that dog's life, strangling it with your hands. The once beloved and magnificent canine is now lifeless, all due to your decision to end its existence. This analogy reflects the profound disappointment experienced by long-term Star Wars fans as the saga took a highly disappointing turn.
For various reasons, many Star Wars fans were let down by the most recent sequel. The storytelling first seemed hurried and needed more richness and depth for which the franchise was renowned. Character arcs and relationships that had been carefully developed over numerous films frequently appeared to be ignored, which left viewers unsatisfied with the conclusions presented. Adding new characters and plot points felt like they needed to be more focused on the development of the original characters that fans loved. This unbalanced focus left fans wanting a more satisfying conclusion to the characters' journeys they had grown attached to over the years. Moreover, inconsistencies in style and tone resulting from changes in directors and creators also impacted the story's overall cohesiveness.
In conclusion, the disappointment with the last Star Wars sequel came from a rushed plot, underdeveloped characters, a disconnected story, unfulfilled expectations, and a lack of a consistent creative vision, leaving many fans feeling that the end of the Skywalker saga fell short of its potential. If I were to rank the trilogies from best to worst, I would have the original trilogy as the best despite being created in an era when the film industry did not have the advanced technology it has today, and it was a phenomenal filmmaking project. Then, I rank the second trilogy as second best. It was solid and had great action but could not top the original as the bar was set too high to surpass. Lastly, the most recent trilogy must be the worst. What a way to end such a beautiful universe. Unfortunately, this had to be the way it ended.
